On a November day in 2024, while visiting old friends in Finland, I was introduced to their daughters and her friends new business The Christmas Mystery (Joulumysteeri in Finnish): An escape room advent calendar that combines storytelling and interactive problem solving where the players have to work their way through the mystery and the 24 problems in order to save Christmas.  After hearing the description of the product, I was immediately intrigued.

That evening, I bought the calendar and quickly realized how fun and clever the game was. I loved how the story and the 24 games allowed for various levels of difficulty, and I also had to ask my adult children for help, which made me appreciate what a great family activity this was and how everyone has their strengths in different areas of problem solving. Afterward I remember thinking that in this digital age - where phones are glued to our hands (yes, mine too!) that this calendar offers an alternative: an in the present and wholesome family activity, an after dinner reset from our all-digital world to an evening of togetherness pondering over the mystery and the various daily games and challenges. And the idea of bringing “Joulumysteeri” to the USA was born.

After contacting the creators, collaboration began on customizing the English version of Christmas Mystery™️ for American families.
